The Man in the Middle: Why Reconciliation Changes Everything

There’s a simple truth that can completely change your life:
You don’t earn your way to God… you’re invited.
And that invitation comes through one person. Jesus.
Not religion. Not perfection. Not performance. Just Jesus.
“The Man in the Middle Said I Could Come”
Picture this for a second.
A man stands at the gates of heaven. His life wasn’t clean. He didn’t check the religious boxes. No church attendance. No rituals. No résumé of good works.
When asked why he should be allowed in, his answer is simple:
“The man in the middle told me I could come.”
That’s it.
That’s the gospel.
That’s reconciliation.
It points straight back to the moment on the cross when Jesus hung between two criminals. One rejected Him. The other believed and Jesus responded with grace.
Not counting sins. Not keeping score. Not requiring perfection first.
Just offering redemption.
What Reconciliation Really Means
Reconciliation means restoring a broken relationship.
Sin separated us from God. There was a gap we couldn’t fix on our own. No amount of effort, discipline, or good intentions could bridge it.
So God did what we couldn’t do.
He sent Jesus.
Not to make a partial payment…Not to create a temporary solution…But to fully restore what was broken.
The cross wasn’t about paying off the enemy. It was about satisfying the justice of God and releasing mercy to us.
And because of that, we’re not just forgiven, we’re brought back into relationship.
That’s powerful.
From Receivers to Messengers
Here’s where it shifts from personal to purpose.
Once you’ve experienced reconciliation, you’re not meant to just hold onto it, you’re called to carry it.
Paul says we are ambassadors for Christ.
That means everywhere you go, you represent heaven. Every conversation, every relationship, every interaction becomes an opportunity to reflect the message of Jesus.
And let’s be clear, this isn’t just for pastors or church leaders.
This is for you.
At your job.In your home. With your friends. In everyday moments that don’t feel “spiritual” at all.
You are a messenger of reconciliation.
Your Identity Has Changed
It doesn’t just change your eternity, it changes your identity.
You are no longer defined by your past. You are no longer labeled by your mistakes. You are no longer carrying the weight of who you used to be.
In Christ, you are made righteous.
Not because you earned it, but because He gave it.
And when you truly understand that, it changes how you live.
You walk with confidence. You speak with boldness. You love with freedom.
Because you know who you are now.
Living in Your “Jubilee” Season
The Bible talks about something called the Year of Jubilee, a time when debts were canceled, captives were freed, and everything was restored.
That’s exactly what Jesus did for us spiritually.
He canceled your debt.He set you free.He restored what was lost.
You’re not trying to earn freedom. You’re living from freedom.
This Is the Message the World Needs
If you look around, it’s obvious we live in a world full of division, guilt, shame, and brokenness.
People are searching for peace. They’re searching for identity. They’re searching for hope.
And whether they realize it or not… they’re searching for reconciliation.
That’s why this message matters so much.
Because the answer isn’t more noise. It’s not more opinions. It’s not more self-effort.
It’s Jesus.
Your Call to Purpose
So here’s where this gets real for you and me:
Who in your life needs to hear this message?
Not in a preachy way.Not in a forced conversation.
But through your life. Your kindness. Your words. Your presence.
Ask God to show you one person this week.
One conversation. One moment. One opportunity to reflect His grace.
Because you never know, someone might be waiting to hear the same truth that changed everything for you.
