Embracing the Harvest: Becoming Kingdom Builders

Have you ever noticed how easy it is to slip into the rhythm of everyday life (work, errands, responsibilities) and lose sight of the bigger picture? We go through the motions, but deep down, many of us long to live for something more.
That’s exactly what Kingdom Builders is all about. It’s a call to shift from living for the temporary to living for the eternal, to see our lives not as isolated moments, but as part of God’s great story. When we start to live with that kind of purpose, everything changes.
A Lesson from the Tomato Harvest
My first church role was as a youth pastor role in a small Arkansas town. Every summer, the community would rally around the tomato harvest. Businesses would pause, schools would shift, and the whole town focused on one thing: bringing in the harvest.
That simple memory became a spiritual metaphor that’s hard to forget. When the harvest is ready, nothing else can take priority.
Jesus said the same thing in Matthew 9:37-38:
“The harvest is plentiful, but the workers are few. Ask the Lord of the harvest, therefore, to send out workers into his harvest field.”
The harvest isn’t just out there somewhere, it’s here. It’s your workplace, your neighborhood, your family. It’s every person who hasn’t yet encountered the transforming love of Jesus.
The Heart of Kingdom Builders
So what does it really mean to be a Kingdom Builder?
Mark 1:15 “The time has come... The kingdom of God is near. Repent and believe the good news!”
Being a Kingdom Builder means partnering with God to bring heaven’s agenda to earth. It means moving beyond comfort and convenience to live intentionally, sharing God’s love, giving generously, and serving others with purpose.
Kingdom Builders don’t just attend church; they are the church. Every conversation, every act of kindness, every dollar given and prayer prayed, it all builds the Kingdom.
Changing the World, One Life at a Time
It’s easy to feel small in a world full of need. But remember the story of the boy who tossed stranded starfish back into the ocean one by one. When told he couldn’t save them all, the boy replied, “It made a difference for that one.”
That’s the heart of Kingdom Builders. You may not change everything, but you can change something. And that something matters deeply to God.
Global Reach, Local Heart
Because of the faithfulness of Kingdom Builders, Calvary’s impact stretches far beyond North Alabama. Through partnerships and missions, lives are being transformed in Belgium, Ecuador, and across the globe.
But it’s not just about sending others, it’s about being sent. Whether you’re praying for missionaries, serving in local outreach, or mentoring the next generation, you’re part of the same mission.
Together, we’re living out the Great Commission, locally and globally.
The Call Before Us
The harvest is ready. The question is: will we step into the fields?
This isn’t about doing the minimum or checking boxes, it’s about living out God’s calling with passion and purpose. Every time we give, serve, love, or go, we’re declaring that the Kingdom of God is worth our lives.
“Let us not love with words or speech but with actions and in truth.” — 1 John 3:18
Building for Eternity
As Kingdom Builders, we live for more than today. We live for eternity. Every seed of generosity, every act of faith, every story of redemption, it all adds up to a legacy that will outlast us.
This is our moment. This is our mission. The harvest is here, and we are the workers.
Let’s be the church that doesn’t just gather, but goes. Let’s build something eternal together, one life, one act of love, one step of obedience at a time.
